I've always loved The Nutcracker. The story, and most of all, its' music. I never cared very much for ballet but this is the only one I can sit through over and over again without fidgeting. After HP, this is one film I am most looking forward to...♥
Never was a Judy Ann Santos fan. And I have never watched any film of hers (nor have I ever had the curiosity to do so). The invite from Mike Abasolo, though, managed to sway me. The trailer is surprisingly good, the cinematography breath-taking and, from the looks of it, is a film that was made with so much heart. Not to mention, being proudly Filipino. Too bad I can't make it to the premiere at The Podium on Friday (why, oh why, did they have to make the sked 5pm?)...

Amidst the din of stores competing for noise supremacy in all the malls, there is one unforgettable Christmas ditty that stands apart from all the rest. Forget the Ray Conniff Singers, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, The Carpenters, Charlotte Church even.

Rainy days make me want to just stay in bed, cuddle up with my dogs and have one of my dvd marathons. Today I chose to do a musical review. First up was Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (the original 1971 flick). Adapted from what is probably Roald Dahl's most popular book, this was definitely a fun way to start. The movie was as enjoyable a romp as when I first saw it many, many years ago. Gene Wilder was most definitely at his best. Here's one of my favorite scenes:
Although I didn't find fault with the new version starring Johnny Depp, Charlie Bucket and the other characters were more alive for me in the original. Maybe because it had musical numbers? Hahaha! Next, I went through Oliver! My Fair Lady, Wizard Of Oz, Brigadoon, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers and now their songs keep playing over and over in my head! like to sing (in the car, the loo, anywhere!), dance (more like traipse around), laugh uproariously, read voraciously, watch movies, enjoy the company of friends; eternally wishing it were christmas all year round, amusement park junkie (the higher the ride, the better!), unabashed cryer in cinemas (potential seatmates, beware!), devout carnivore (you can count the veggies i do eat in one hand)...also have a bordering-on-the-absurd collection of all things froggy given by friends and next of kin. maybe one day, one of them'll turn out to be my prince - harharhar!!!
