McDonald's came out with a winning commercial which I got to chance upon last night. Look at these cute kids:
All together now: Awwww.....
Update April 13, 2011: McDonald's pulled out the ad after the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CPCP) said that it was sending out the wrong message to children. In the commercial, a little girl asks a boy if she was already his girlfriend. The boy says no, claiming girlfriends are too demanding. However, he seems to change his mind when the girl says all she wants are french fries at McDonald's. Hmmm...didn't find anything offensive or even mildly controversial about an innocent ad. Did you?
Just in case you may have missed out, do you know that our very own Manny Pacquiao is a certified international sports superstar? Watch this Nike commercial where he shares the spotlight with Kobe Bryant, Cristiano Ronaldo, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Xiang Liu.
I am humbled that some people actually think I have clout. Well, at least enough of an influence, for them to ask if I can possibly mention them here in my blog - hehehe. I try to be very democratic about it. I accommodate whenever I can, especially when I think I can help a start-up company, promote a charitable cause, even gratuitouos plugging, as long as the views/opinions are not against my personal beliefs. After all, this is my personal blog...
This one email I got invited me to visit a site which got me so entertained that an entire hour flew by so fast without me noticing! So, Carl, this one's for you:
LAUNCH OF WORLD'S FIRST THEMED INTEREST WEB TV SERVICE
The Swedish and UK based web-TV company factualTV introduces the first global television service solely focused on TV programs within specific subject areas carrying great commercial potential. The company currently has global licenses for more than 2,500 titles of factual and lifestyle programs and documentaries.
factualTV’s concept is to identify specific subjects within factual television where commercial potential exists for both viewers and advertisers. Based on this, factualTV will create thematic sections only containing programs within the specific area. Examples of some of these sections are UFO, Pets, Adventure and World War II.
"We are following the trend within traditional television towards ever more niched channels. We take this one step further by introducing specific thematic sections within our service FactualTV. These sections are marketed internationally over the Internet to the respective target groups", says Daniel Hill, CEO of factualTV.
Another reason why factualTV focuses on factual television programs is to optimize the possibilities for subject search, which is the natural behavior of online users. The users can easily find factual television programs within their specific topic of interest through search engines or directly at www.factualtv.com.
"Our focus on niche subjects creates an attractive environment for advertisers and a simple method of marketing sections or channels towards interested target groups. For example, factualTV makes it possible to market its own adventure section to adventure sites, and create partner alliances with on-line magazines based on some or all of our content", says Daniel Hill.
factualTV strives for simplicity in its service, which is completely web-based. This means the user is not required to download any software to watch a TV program.
"It’s easy for a visitor to get started without any prior knowledge of how factualTV works. The user can access the webpage and start watching programs immediately", says Daniel Hill.
factualTV, now launching its Beta version, is already the world’s largest pure factual television service with more than 2,500 titles and global license agreements with over 20 international distribution and production companies, and television channels.
"Today’s Beta version will continue to be developed. A full-scale version, with subject related sections will be launched in the beginning of 2009", Daniel Hill explains.
factualTV is financed by private equity and supported by investors from Scandinavia and other countries. The largest shareholder and co-founder is Anders Palm, media producer and businessman based in the UK.

For years, I thought Christiane Amanpour was the toughest chick in broadcast journalism. Most lady comarts grads like myself (and a few gents maybe) could only aspire to have as much ability to think quickly on their feet. She never balked in the face of danger, welcoming assignments to cover ongoing strife in war-torn countries as easily as invitations to coronations and state funerals.
On August 14, 2008, Georgian TV reporter Tamara Urushadze, was hit on the arm by sniper fire while reporting that all was quiet in Gori. She temporarily fell out of camera range but to the viewers' utter amazement, just donned a bullet-proof vest and continued her broadcast as if nothing happened. Astig!!! Boy, will her career take off now...
Don't know if any one of you has seen this but it's probably one of the best commercials ever produced. I still get awestruck everytime I catch it on cable TV. Simply WONDERFUL!!!
Following her Ellen appearance, this young lady is poised on the brink of stardom. Is she going to be another Banig or will she take the world by storm? Let's wait and see...
