The internet was all abuzz this weekend with the news of our beloved social network's demise. Friends were posting warnings on their homepages to make copies of all personal albums before March 15th or suffer their disappearance into oblivion. Tweets were likewise of the same vein on Twitter. Ayayay! When will people ever learn to do a little research first before succumbing to that urge to repost/retweet? Fear not FB friends, here are the facts straight from the horses mouth:
Facebook and Twitter seem to be all the rage nowadays. When you chance upon long-lost friends and acquaintances or get to meet new ones, trust that the inevitable parting lines of "Do you have facebook? I'll invite you, ok?" will surely come out.
I have been an FB user since late 2007 and initially got hooked because of the novelty of having reconnected with some long-forgotten friends from grade school and high school and previously unknown relatives. Two years, a network that has expanded to 600+ and about a dozen reunions later, I find myself logging in not just to check up on buds and next of kin, but also to play the numerous applications which the creators so ingeniously embedded into the site to entice more and more people.
On weekends when I don't have plans to go out, I am usually online till dawn, playing either Fashion Wars, Sorority Life, Pet Society or Hangman, superpoking, receiving and giving gifts, smiles and hugs or answering some cheesy quiz like Which Foreign Guy Should You Date, etc.

We live in an era where social networking has truly evolved, as this has made getting in touch faster and more convenient. Sometimes, though, don't you also get the hankering for good old fashioned hand-written letters and hours-long phone conversations?

Some say it was unwarranted, but the iPhone made history when it was released to the world Friday, June 29th. Within the same day, however, there were already complaints (such as this one) about the much-hyped gadget. Robert Scoble and his 13-year old son Patrick were the first to walk out of the Apple Store in Palo Alto with the iPhone in hand. Sadly, we Filipinos have to wait another 6 months before it is released here. Such is life, huh?
