My Christmas Countdown Begins...

Now that I am officially on vacation, I can start preparing for the Christmas holidays early. Wheeee!!!

You see, we usually put up the tree right around November and take it down mid January. That way, the Christmas spirit lingers on much longer. It's not so much the gifts we receive but the time together with family, the generosity of the people you come into contact with during this season, the happy carols playing non-stop, the endless trays of food and the unadulterated glee of children, that makes Christmas such a wonderful occasion for me. Sure there is the horrendous traffic and the long queues in the department stores that we have to resign ourselves to contend with but to this day, the "magic" still exists.

There may be less gifts under the trees and more practical food on the tables due to the global financial crisis but people the world over will surely have more reason to celebrate. Blessings thrive in abundance all around us everyday and we have so many little miracles to be thankful for. Credit crunch or not, let's all try to make it a merry Christmas!

Bellyfest

Ever wondered how it would be like to learn the "Dance Of The Seven Veils" and enthrall both men and women alike? Well, wait no more, my friend.

Jill Ngo-Crisologo asked me for a favor - would it be possible to mention their upcoming event here in my blog? Who am I to say no, right? Besides, I really think it's gonna be one heck of a spectacle! For the dance enthusiasts out there, BELLYFEST, the first ever Philippine Belly Dance Festival, is coming your way - and SOON!


Here are the details:

Peak Performance Dance and Fitness will stage the first ever Philippine Belly Dance Festival entitled “Belly Fest” on June 9, 2007 at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater of the Ateneo de Manila University; an all day outdoor bazaar and exhibition beginning at 11am and culminating in a colorful and exhilarating dance concert that starts at 7pm.

The event will feature some of the top belly dance instructors and performers from all over the country. More than 50 belly dancers from Manila, Cebu, General Santos, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga will be featured on stage. Among those scheduled to perform is Jill Ngo-Crisologo, recently named Most Popular Belly Dance Instructor in Metro Manila by Total Woman Magazine (February 2007). Performing with her are lead dancers and choreographers Dr. Gemma Magtibay, Ms. Gladys Catanduanes, Ms. Arcel Benson, Ms. Lovely Aricheta, Ms. Papes Lao and Ms. Nilda Boquiren. The show will also feature jazz numbers by the Company of Ateneo Dancers, ballroom, flamenco and hip hop performances by the country's top dancers and groups. To top it all, TV personality Regine Tolentino is expected to take to the stage.

There will also be outdoor belly dance exhibitions and a middle eastern bazaar open from 11am and closing just before the evening show. Learn how to play the doumbek or tablah, which are Middle Eastern instruments, attend free basic belly dancing workshops and wellness talks. You can also browse through booths offering exotic food, henna tattoos, belly dance accessories, middle eastern jewelry, home décor, costumes and clothes. Nestle gift packs, massage certificates and gym memberships will be given away to lucky ticket holders; plus free refreshments throughout the day.

Experience the flair of the Middle East and celebrate the start of a new trend in fitness and entertainment. Belly Fest 2007 promises to be a night of color, drama, and all things beautiful.
