Bone Of Contention
In 2007, a Costa Rican artist known as Guillermo Vargas "Habacuc" Jimenez allegedly took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery and starved him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibit watched emotionless as the disgraceful 'masterpiece' of the dog's agony unfolded before their very eyes. Surprising, some people actually agreed with the artist's notion that they were bearing witness to "live" art.
Sad to say, that was not the end of it. The prestigious Visual Arts Bienal of Central America decided that the 'installation' was indeed artistic. So much so that "Habacuc" has been invited to repeat his cruel act.
We have got to stop him!!!
Click on this link or this or just copy it in your browser to sign a petion to stop Mr. Habacuc from doing it again at the 2008 Bienal Centroamericana in Honduras. It is free of charge and will only take a minute.
You can validate the story here and read how he justifies his actions.
