AI Bombshell
There was much drama on American Idol last night. Constantine Maroulis (who looks like a younger and much better version of Gary Sinise) got booted out - much to the consternation of all his screaming fans. That wasn't what made me go hmmm, however. It was the fact that he, along with Vonzell Solomon and Anthony Fedorov apparently drew the least number of votes from the voting public, that was the shocker. So much so that even Paula Abdul was reduced to tears (ok, it might be mostly because of her obvious crush on him)...Hey, he isn't the "Smoldering Idol" for nothing, you know.
Carrie Underwood did her usual country thing and Bo Bice came off like Lenny Kravitz. Anthony tried his best to pull off a Celine Dion song, Vonzell channeled Christina Aguilera and Scott did not even come close to doing justice to Luther Vandross' "Dance With my Father". Granted Nickelback's "How You Remind Me" wasn't the best song choice and his performance wasn't outstanding, I still believe he should have prevailed over Scott Savol in this last round. Exactly how I felt when Anwar Robinson got the axe last week.
But then again, am pretty sure there's a record contract waiting in the wings for him already so I don't really feel that bad. Plus, the "Idols" will be going on tour. He'll still have his 15 minutes of fame and then some. What would have probably left the audience speechless is if he had actually won in AI's finale.
Despite friends' constant heckling that he looks like an Orc, my bet's still on Bo.
